PULASKI, WI- Local Polka musician Alvin Styczynski passed away at the age of 87 on Monday. Styczynski spent many years performing with his polka band and also had a radio show that aired on WTCH Radio in Shawano.
“Holy God, this is a shocker,” Pulaski Polka Days Chairman Harold Otto told TCHDailynews when he heard of his passing.
Frog County 92.3 Radio host Gary Kuchenbecker said he was saddened to hear the news. “I remember him replacing Romy Gosz on Green Bay television, and I remember watching him from when I was a young kid on.”
Styczynski performed at many local venues and performed well into the later years of his life. He was a mainstay at the Shawano County Fair for years.
“He left a mark on polka music,” Kuchenbecker said. “He had some songs that I still get requests for this day,” Kuchenbecker said. “Hupsadyna” is one that he said comes to mind.
Details of Styczynski’s funeral arrangements are still pending.
