Dennis Frank Schutt, age 79, passed away Friday March 10, 2023, at his home in Shawano, with his wife at his side after a short illness with cancer. Dennis was born on August 29, 1943, to the late William and Charlotte (Baumgarten) Schutt, in Shawano. After graduating from St. James School, he attended Shawano High School. On July 6, 1973, he was united in marriage to Esther Huntington, in Shawano. Dennis worked as security guard for Shawano Hospital and the Menominee Casino. He enjoyed playing slow pitch softball and shooting pool. Dennis loved camping and having campfires in the UP. He enjoyed watching the Packers and even went to the Ice Bowl. Dennis spent his Fridays at the Sooline Bar in Shawano, with his wife, drinking old style beer and meeting with friends.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 49 years, Esther; his son, Jake Christopher Schutt; his grandson, Connor (Liv) Erickson; his great-granddaughter, Rosie; his dog, Sophie; his brother William (Ann) Schutt; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe Huntington, Bonnie (Bob) Engel, Harry “Bud” (Jane) Huntington, Steve (Pat) Huntington, Sally (Jeff Stezenski) Huntington, Tim (Beth) Huntington, Wendy (Lee) Hafner, Tom (Lauren) Huntington, Bert (Mary Beth) Huntington, Dan (Denise) Huntington, Dave (Carole) Raasch. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, William and Charlotte; his sisters, Mary (Gabe) Lepak and Judy; sister-in-law, Kathy (Huntington) Raasch; parents-in-law, Harry and Dolores Huntington; his stepfather-in-law Tony Zahringer.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday March 18, 2023, at Swedberg Funeral Home, in Shawano with Fr. Timothy Machila officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 until the time of service on Saturday March 18, 2023.

In lieu of flowers donation may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Gresham Scholarship Fund.
