William “Bill” Grunewald, age 68 of Caroline passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at his home.
William Charles Grunewald was born on July 8, 1954, in Leopolis to Gust and Virginia (Pevonka) Grunewald. He was baptized on July 25, 1954, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leopolis. He grew up in the Caroline area and graduated from Marion High School in 1973. Bill met the love of his life, Iris, and after many years together they were united in marriage on September 18, 2021, in the Town of Riverview, Oconto County.
Bill worked at Marion Building Center for a number of years and then was employed at Done Right Remodeling in Schofield for a few years. He was a true carpenter who enjoyed building cabinets and working on all sorts of other woodworking projects. Bill also dairy farmed for over 30 years. He liked being outdoors, whether he was deer hunting, fishing, or just spending time with his family.
Bill proudly served as a volunteer firefighter for many years with the Caroline Fire Department. He will be remembered most for his wonderful sense of humor and his smile that lit up the room.
Survivors include his wife, Iris; a son, Jason (Nichol) Grunewald and their children, Jeremy, Hunter, and Catera; a son, Brian Grunewald, a son, Dan Grunewald, and Tony (Nancy) Grunewald and their children, Mia, Neela, Myles, and Gisele. There are four siblings, Mary Zahn, Margaret (Terry) Gott, Julie Grunewald, and Ed Grunewald, and one sister-in-law, Carol Grunewald.
Bill was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Grunewald; a brother-in-law, Dale Zahn; and an infant baby brother.
