TIGERTON, WI- The local communities are mourning the passing of “John E. Law” over the weekend. Tigerton’s Fire Chief 57-year-old John Gutho lost his 9-month battle with cancer on Friday.
His first job in Law enforcement was with the Village of Tigerton before joining the Shawano Co. Sheriff Department. John worked diligently at his job, working his way through the ranks, retiring as Chief Deputy in 2016. John was currently employed by the Village of Tigerton.
John spent his life serving his community, serving as trustee and village president for many years. For over 30 years was a member of the Tigerton Fire Department and was the current Fire Chief. John was a member of the Tigerton Lions Club for over 30 years and a member and past president of the Wisconsin Sheriff and Deputy Sheriff Association.
Gutho also attempted to take one more step in law enforcement and ran for Sheriff against then Sheriff Adam Bieber in 2018.
The Funeral Mass for John will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Tigerton on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 12:00 noon with Fr. Matthew Settle officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
