SHAWANO, WI- Shawano Police responded to Walmart for a disturbance. Shawano Police Chief Brad Rabideau said when officers were responding, dispatch advised them of weapons being involved.
“It didn’t turn out to be the case, thankfully, but we are prepared to respond to those types of incidents.” Rabideau said the report was that their was a fight in progress that was possibly involving a knife and firearm. He said the investigation showed the incident was isolated, and the general public was never in danger.
Two people were taken into custody for actions related to the disturbance and charges are being referred.
“Walmart ordered the store to be evacuated after the incident took place and our officers were there within minutes,” Rabideau said. Once the all clear was given, customers and employees were allowed back inside.
“We take every incident seriously,” said Rabideau. “We are just glad that nobody got hurt.”
