GREEN LAKE CO, WI- The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office and emergency medical services responded to a fatal deer hunting-related incident in the Township of Seneca in Green Lake County.

On Sunday, Nov. 20, 2022, shortly after 9:00 a.m., an 11-year-old male was the victim of a gunshot wound to the chest. A 41-year-old male shooter attempted to unload his firearm while it was placed in the back seat of a vehicle. The firearm discharged, striking the victim. The victim, identified as Berlin Middle Schooler Easton Thom, was flown via Med Flight to a hospital, where he died. The shooter and the victim were members of the same hunting party.

The DNR and Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate the incident.
