Kenneth C. “Ken” Bente, age 84 of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at ThedaCare Medical Center-Appleton.
Ken was born in Whitefish Bay on October 13, 1938, a son of the late Henry and Helen (Clemens) Bente. He attended school in Whitefish Bay, graduating with the Class of 1956. Following high school, Ken entered the U.S. Army where he served in Tacoma, Washington. On November 13, 1962, he was united in marriage to the former Maxine Skenandore in Waukegan, Illinois. She preceded him in death on September 13, 2013. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Milwaukee before moving to West Bend in 1974. The couple moved to Shawano in 2000. Ken was employed at Continental Can Company for over thirty years.
Ken loved old black and white movies and Westerns. He enjoyed fishing with his late brother-in-law, Reggie Skenandore. When he was younger, Ken enjoyed deer hunting. Ken and Maxine liked to travel, visit historic landmarks, go on cruises, and take trips to Florida.
Survivors include his loving children, Stephanie (Joseph) Prescott of Clearwater, FL, Laurie (Tim) Arndt of Huntersville, NC, and Thomas Bente of Shawano; nine grandchildren, Chyenne (Kyle) Lane, Sidney (Chris) Scamardo, Zachary (Sammy Morgan) Prescott, Noah Arndt, Chris Arndt, Jack Arndt, Isadora Bente, Tyler Bente, and Alexander Bente; four great-grandchildren, Kyle, Jr., Dash Lane, Jackson Lane, and Hazel Scamardo; his special sister-in-law, Judy Skenandore of Green Bay; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Ken was preceded in death by two children, infant son, Kenneth Bente, and his daughter, Kimberly Bente; his brother, Tom Bente; and his sister-in-law, Judy Bente.
In keeping with his wishes, a private family service will be held.
