
Carol Ann Kloes, age 86 of Clintonville passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at ThedaCare Medical Center in Shawano. Carol was born November 2, 1935, in Temple, Texas. She graduated from Bloom High School in Chicago Heights, Illinois, in 1953, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Masters degree in Reading from the University of Superior. She married the love of her life, Arnie Kloes, on May 3, 1958, at Central Christian Church in Wichita, Kansas. They celebrated 64 blissful years of marriage and had two children.
Carol worshiped God and lived a faith-filled life. She loved sewing, cooking, learning new things, spending time with her family, and playing a variety of card games, often winning bridge, sheepshead and her homemade Jokers game against any willing challenger. In her younger days she worked in a bakery and liked water skiing. She also enjoyed taking family vacations and was a clothing model in college. Carol was a teacher for 50 years and retired at age 70. She inspired and encouraged many students and peers throughout her teaching career. She also went out of her way help others and had a special way of making people feel acknowledged and appreciated. She talked with her kids and grandkids regularly, and loved listening to their stories and life updates.
Carol is survived by her husband, Arnie Kloes; daughter, Deb (Phil) Scott and son, Russ Kloes; three grandchildren, Cody (Sara) Scott, Cassie (Whitman) Gasaway and Kyle Scott (significant other Alyssa Leopold); two great grandchildren, Cooper Scott and Graham Gasaway; brother, Bruce (Betty) Stahl; step-brother, Robert (Janet) Herndon; step-sister, Joann Hurst; brother-in-law, Jerry (Sue) Kloes, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents Raymond Stahl and Maybelle (Reynolds) Stahl Herndon, she was preceded in death by her step-father Joe Herndon, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leonard and Sylvia (Mech) Kloes; sister-in-law, Geri (Kloes) Lawler; brother-in-law, Bob Lawler, and step-brother-in-law, Bill Hurst.
Carol was easy to love and admired by many. Her calm, comforting and nurturing personality made her easy to talk to and relate with. Her smile had depth and warmth, and people knew her to be a very sweet, caring person. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandma and great grandma.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church in Navarino. Rev. Michelle Klemp will officiate, and the burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Clintonville. Visitation will be on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
The family would like to thank Evergreen Health Services and the ThedaCare Medical Center staff for their ongoing care for Carol and the support given to her family members.
