
Elaine M. Thoma, age 81 of Tigerton passed away Thursday, March 3, 2022, at her home.
The former Elaine Marie Schultz was born on June 29, 1940, at home in Bowler, Wisconsin, to Richard and Linnea (Johnson) Schultz Sr. She graduated from Tigerton High School in 1958. Elaine was united in marriage on August 22, 1959, to Wayne V. Thoma at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Town of Morris. The couple settled on a dairy farm in the Town of Morris, Shawano County. She worked side-by-side on the farm with her husband and they were blessed with six children. Over the years, they had cows, pigs, sheep, rabbits, chickens, and horses. The couple collected, cooked, and sold maple syrup as well. She was the local representative also for Tupperware and Amway Products for some time. Elaine and Wayne really enjoyed raising Border Collies and Toy Poodles for many years. Her husband of 62 years preceded her in death on December 8, 2021.
Elaine is a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Town of Morris. She is a charter member of the Embarrass River Lions Club and enjoyed playing Mrs. Claus next to her husband for a number of years. When the kids were young, she served as a General Leader with the Morris Vikings 4H for many years. Elaine will be remembered most for her beautiful smile and wonderful sense of humor.
Survivors include her six children, Lora (Mike) Sauer, John Thoma, Lisa (William) Giese, Linda (Mark) Rohloff, Walter (Debra) Thoma, and Sara (Brad) Brei. There are eleven grandchildren: Daniel Sauer, Jonathan (Ping) Sauer, Savannah Rohloff, Jade (Hailey) Rohloff, Benjamin Rohloff, Aneta (Samuel) Falck, Kaitlyn Thoma, Parker Thoma, Cassandra Brei, Marada Brei, and Adin Brei. There is one great granddaughter, Maricela Rohloff. She is further survived by two brothers, Dennis (Sharon) Schultz and Richard (Sandra) Schultz; three sisters-in-law, Ina Schultz, Gail (Terry) Schley; and Marlene (Butch) Postel; a brother-in-law, Dale (Kay) Thoma; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Dorothy (Rudy) Larson; five brothers, Verlyn (Joyce), Lindy, Eton, William, and David Schultz; a brother-in-law, Evan Thoma; and her in-laws, Vernon and Ora Thoma.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 19th at 12:00 Noon at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Town of Morris. Pastor John Hielsberg will officiate and burial will be at a later date at Union Cemetery, Tigerton. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church.
