SEYMOUR, WI- An ammonia leak at a cheese plant Saturday night led to an evacuation and emergency response.
The Outagamie County Emergency Management team reports it took about four-and-a-half hours to secure an ammonia leak at Emmi Roth Cheese Plant. The call came in around 7:00 pm.
An airborne release of anhydrous ammonia was reported, leading to the evacuation of residents living near the plant. Good Shepherd Nursing Home was secured while the leak was fixed quickly.
The all-clear was given shortly before 11:40 p-m and people were allowed to return to their homes.
No injuries were reported.
Authorities are investigating to find out what caused the leak.
