Katherine “Kathy” Jarvis, age 77, of Bear Creek was born into Heaven on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at Rennes Health and Rehabilitation Center, Appleton.
Katherine Lois Johnson was born on Earth on August 22, 1943 the daughter of Benjamin and Melba (Clark) Johnson in Clintonville. She attended St. Martin’s before moving to Deer Creek where she attended Elder Row School. She graduated from Clintonville Highschool in 1961. She married the boy next door Harold Jarvis on October 7, 1961. The two settled on the family farm and resided there for 33 years before moving to Bear Creek where they lived 15 years together until Harold’s passing in 2010.
One of her many accomplishments was bringing the Girl Scouts to Bear Creek with the help of Ramona Murray, Tina Lorge, and Ann Schniderwent in 1970. Kathy was born Lutheran but converted to Catholicism in the early 70’s at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Bear Creek where she soon became a driving force in fundraising for the St. Mary’s Catholic School. She founded many fundraisers including Friday Night Fish Fry’s during Lent and Tractor Pulls in the summer. She was chairman of the St. Mary’s Sauerkraut Festival many times. She reinstated the St. Mary’s PCCW in 2010. She ran funeral dinners at the St. Mary’s Parish Hall serving many families over the years. Anyone who knew Kathy knew she had a passion for quilting, so she used every Lent to create quilts with fellow PCCW members to be given to those in need.
During her life here on Earth she enjoyed traveling with her husband Harold, camping with her grandchildren, and playing cards with family and friends. Kathy had a sweatshirt for every holiday and occasion you could imagine. If you ever took the time to call her and she did not answer, you were greeted with her wonderful answering message that when you hung up made you feel good inside.
Survivors include her three children, a daughter Debra Jarvis of Bear Creek, son Mark and wife Cindy (Forseth) Jarvis of Bear Creek, and son Chris and wife Bonnie (Davidson) Jarvis, all of Bear Creek. Grandchildren: Quentin Forseth, Austin Jarvis (friend Adrienne Clark), Katlin (Brent) Dilge, Brittany (Austin) Lorge, Travis Jarvis, Cody Jarvis, Becka Jarvis (Mitchell Waniger), and Clayton Jarvis.
