MADISON, WI- Wisconsin Congressman Tom Tiffany says the federal decision to delist the wolf from the endangered species list is something the agriculture industry has been waiting for.
The 7th District Republican says wolf kills of livestock is a problem.
“Agriculture’s been under enough pressure over the last 6 to 7 years. To add this to the mix, it really makes it marginal whether they can continue to stay in the business, he said. “Cattle are stirred up as a result of having wolves encroaching on them. It reduces production for both milk (and) the rate of gain for beef farmers. Those kind of things directly effect those operations.”
Tiffany has introduced legislation that would put the wolf delisting into law. He’s seeking co-signers and expects the bill to get hearings early in the new House session.
