
Bernice A. Begrow, age 82, of rural Tigerton passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Homme Home CBRF in Wittenberg.
The former Bernice Annett Bork was born on February 15, 1938 in the Town of Bartelme, Shawano County, to Edward and Laura (Mundt) Bork. She grew up in the Bowler area and attended Bowler High School. Bernice was united in marriage on November 3, 1956 to Glen P. Begrow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Town of Dupont. After marriage, the couple lived a few years in Marion and in 1964 they moved to a dairy farm on Highway 45 in the Town of Fairbanks, Shawano County. Bernice worked side-by-side with her husband helping out wherever she was needed on the farm. While farming, she was also employed at several different places over the years. Bernice first worked in the powdered milk department at Sturms Foods in Manawa. Then she was at Marion Plywood for a short time and at the Clintonville Shoe Factory. Finally, she enjoyed doing home care for several elderly folks around the area. Her husband of 58 years preceded her in death on June 27, 2015.
Bernice was a longtime member of Peace Lutheran Church, Split Rock. Her interests included quilting, crocheting, and ceramics. Bernice liked baking for all sorts of family gatherings and weddings over the years. She always baked the best breads, pies, cookies, butterhorn rolls, and much more.
Survivors include five children, Susan (Tim) Laatsch of Tigerton, Jane Begrow of Caroline, Glen Jr. “Sonny” Begrow of Sturgeon Bay, Tom Begrow of Marion, and Lilly (Mark) Caskey of Bowler. There are 11 grandchildren, Laura (Martin) McGlone, Alicia Laatsch, Paul (Jennifer) Laatsch, Joshua (Nicole) Laatsch, Josiah (Hannah) Laatsch, Anna Laatsch, Jedidiah Laatsch, Andrew Laatsch, Daniel Laatsch, Timothy Laatsch, and Shannon (Mason) Caskey. She is also survived by 23 great grandchildren; three brothers, Armin (Joan) Bork of Antigo, Garret Bork of Shawano, and Hubert “Gus” Bork of Bowler; two sisters-in-law, Adeline Pockat of Caroline and Jean Neubauer of Oshkosh; two brothers-in-law, William Begrow of Town of Dupont and Carlton (Annie) Begrow of Fremont. She is further survived by a sister-in-law, Gladys Begrow of Marion; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glen; six brothers, Ruben, Lawrence, Melvin, Burton, Edward Jr., and Vernon Bork; and three sisters-in-law, Marge, Myrtle, and Hazel Bork.
Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 30th at 2:00 PM at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Marion. Rev. Craig Nehring will officiate and inurnment will follow at Roseland Cemetery, Town of Dupont. Friends may call on Friday from 1:00 PM until time of service at the funeral home.
