Joseph R. McGlin Sr., age 76, of Shiocton passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Cherry Meadows Hospice, Appleton.
Joseph Roger McGlin Sr. was born on November 13, 1943 at New London Hospital to Ivan and Evelyn (Nicholson) McGlin. Joe grew up in the Deer Creek / Maple Creek area and attended school in Clintonville. He worked with his father Ivan and his brother Dan doing masonry work. Joe also worked at FWD Corporation, Hillshire Farm, and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) being his favorite. He found his place at Oshkosh Truck Corporation where he enjoyed 26 years of employment, retiring in 2007.
Joe met his one true love, Marlene Louise Henrickson. They were united in marriage on September 19, 1964 in Clintonville where they raised their family.
Joe enjoyed several hobbies and interests during his life. From bee keeping, coin collecting, driving ponies, coon hunting, and so many more. Joe’s greatest joy were his grandchildren and great grandchildren. “Grandpa Joe” always had a special place for all children in his heart.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Marlene; one sister, Rose (McGlin) Babino and one sister-in-law, Marj (McGlin) Hagen, both of Clintonville. There are three daughters, Debra (Robert) McGlin-Mauel of Appleton, Tammie McGlin of New London, and Amy (friend Chris) McGlin of Clintonville. There are seven grandchildren: Jason (friend Kourtney) Stoffel of Appleton, Leslie (Sam) Moseley of Warren, Michael Miller of Oshkosh, Patrick (friend Heather) Miller of Bear Creek; Makayla (friend Chase) McGlin, Branden McGlin, and Jaiden McGlin of Clintonville. There are two great grandchildren, Amelia and Issac of Warren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives. He is further survived by some special friends, Harvey and Wendy Wellhoefer of Cedarburg; Chris and Matt Wagenson of Bear Creek; and last but not least his loyal companion and friend, his hound Maggie.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, a son Joseph McGlin Jr., a brother Dan McGlin, and brother-in-law John Babino.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 5th at 12:00 Noon at Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville. Joe’s grandson Sam Moseley will officiate and burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Clintonville. Visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
