GREEN BAY, WI – (Wisconsin Radio Network) – Brown County now has the dubious title of having the highest infection rate for COVID-19 in the entire state of Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reports Brown County has 298-point-seven positive cases per 100 thousand residents.
Milwaukee County is second at 275-point-five.
Brown County vaulted into first place after the J-B-S U-S-A beef production plant was shut down following an outbreak.
The local health department has linked 189 cases to that plant.
The JBS shutdown comes as the number of Wisconsinites testing positive for COVID-19 grew by 224 Sunday, the fifth day in a row that new cases exceeded 200.
While that increase is attributed in part to the meat plant outbreaks, it also reflects increased testing.
