William Frederick “Bill” Buss, age 64 of the Town of Angelica, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his family. He fought the valiant fight against five different cancers for thirteen strong years.
Bill was born on November 6, 1954 in Shawano to Wallace and June (Bathke) Buss. He attended St. Paul Lutheran School until 8th grade, then went to Bonduel High School where he graduated. He was a life member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was proud to be on the building committee for the new church.
The home Bill built was his pride and joy. His lawn didn’t have a weed in it and his rock and flower gardens were beautiful. He loved to hunt and fish, but his biggest passion was bowling. He had multiple 300 games and an 812 series. Bill was inducted into the Shawano Bowling Association Hall of Fame last October. He also enjoyed golfing but no matter how well he did, he thought he should have done better.
Bill is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 47 years, Patricia Balthazor Buss; his four children, Amy (Patrick) Cantrall, Lori (John) Cathey, Adam Buss and his special friend, Trisha Wolf, and Andrew (Melissa) Buss; his grandchildren, Hunter, Alexander, and Chase Cathey, and Mercedes Cantrall. He is further survived by his mother, June Buss; brothers and sisters, Bonnie (Stickney) Buss, Susan (George) Peterman, John (Ruth Radloff) Buss, Don Buss, Ellen (Dennis) Rudzinski, and Chuck (Linda Strupp) Buss; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe (Marie O’Hearn) Balthazor, JoAnn (Alan) Knapp, RoseMary (Dennis) Stilen, Barb (Joe) Crevier, Joyce (Jarek) Balthazor, Les (Julie Hansen) Balthazor, and Carol (Steve) Short; and many nieces, nephews, and bowling, golfing, and hunting friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Wallace Buss; his brother, Michael Buss; his father and mother-in-law, Orville and Josephine Balthazor; his niece, Jenny Peterman; and his nephew, Alan Knapp, Jr.
A funeral service for William F. Buss will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church-Bonduel. Rev. Timothy Shoup will officiate. Visitation will begin on Friday night, October 18, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the church, and continue on Saturday morning beginning at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers and plants, a memorial is being established in Bill’s name.
Bill requested casual attire for the funeral. He never was much for getting all dressed up. He loved camo clothing, and his favorite sport teams were the Brewers, Packers, Badgers, and Bucks.
Mickelson Funeral & Cremation Service of Shawano is assisting the family with arrangements. Please share online condolences at www.mickelsonfs.com.
