Kimberly 60, Hotonville 52
Kimberly held off a second half comeback attempt, and knocked off Hortonville in the teams first meeting of the season 60-52. Polar Bear leading scorer Shay Frederick was held scoreless in the second half, but scored all 11 of her points in the late in the game and tied Morgan Allen for the team lead. Kimberly made a statement early, hitting five three’s in the first half. The Papermakers led 24-28 at the break. Allen, who scored nine point in the first half, was held quiet in the second half, but the shooting of Shay Frederick made it a game. Hortonville got the lead down to four points on a three pointer by Frederick. The Polar Bears were out of timeouts and were forced to foul, but missed the foul attempts, leading Kimberly wide open for an easy lay-up. A frustrated Coach Celesta Ratka drew a technical foul, that put Kimberly to the line to secure the win. Hortonville and Kimberly will meet again on Thursday.
