Substitute bus drivers in New London will soon be seeing an increase in pay. School officials made the change as they aim for better retention after staff shortages.

The new pay scale would increase hourly pay for bus drivers from $18.60 an hour, to $20.10 an hour, but only after the drivers complete 50 hours behind the wheel.

The vote came at the latest New London School Board Meeting.
